Scientists from the United Kingdom have discovered unknown sponge-like creatures on the seabed under the ice shelf in Antarctica.

This was reported by “Frontiers in Marine Science”.

The creatures were found during exploration drilling on the Filchner Ice Shelf. Until the last discovery, it was believed that there were no benthic life forms on the shores of Antarctica.

Scientists believe that they can find fish, worms and jellyfish living in complete darkness under the floating glaciers.
