Institute of Geography of ANAS held meeting with editorial board of “National Geographic Azerbaijan” journal.

Opening the meeting director of the institute, acad. Ramiz Mammadov stated that, journal publishing by support of Leyla Aliyeva, vice-president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, attaches importance in terms of environmentally protection.

Speaking about establishment history, editor-in-chief of the journal Seymur Teymurov stated that, publishing since 1888 in the English, "National Geographic" journal covers nature, science and technology areas by means of comprehensive and up to date papers, legendary photo illustrations and maps. Journal is of 60 million readers is possible to read in 40 languages.

“National Geographic” has been published first time in Georgia, Caucasus 2012. In March 2013, before Azerbaijan, Ukrainian version of the journal was published, in July of that year, Taiwan, Hong Kong versions be added, noted S.Teymurov.

The 40th edition of the journal, which is published in local languages - “National Geographic Azerbaijan” is of great importance to environmental awareness and enlightening in a country.

Noted that, environmentally protection, disasters, global warming, air pollution, threatening the destruction of the various fauna species are also target subjects to a journal.
