Mirnuh Ismayilov, Head of the Department of Landscape Studies and Landscape Planning of the Institute of Geography named after Academician H.A.Aliyev of ANAS, Doctor of Philosophy in Geography, Associate Professor, explained the reasons for the decrease of river water in the story of ATV news.
He attributed the main reason for the shortage of water and the growing demand for water to global climate change, noting that this process has been going on for the last 10-15 years. He said that Georgia, Armenia and Iran use the Kura and Araz rivers intensively in the Kura River basin. Reservoirs are being built in these areas, irrigated areas are being expanded, which in turn leads to a decrease in water flowing into the Kura and Araz.
