Academician Ramiz Mammadov’s 65th anniversary celebrated

ANAS Institute of Geography held a special meeting of the Scientific Council devoting to 65th anniversary and 45th anniversary of scientific activity of celebrate geographer, director of institute Ramiz Mammadov.

Chaired the meeting deputy director of institute, corresponding member of ANASElbrus Alizadeh told about honorable life and rich scientific activity of scientist. 

He said that Ramiz Mammadov is the author of 300 scientific articles, 11 monographs, 1 geography atlas and over 20 international research projects. Academician is known as a scientist who studies the Caspian Sea to the international scale.

E. Alizadeh also noted that comprehensive investigations of the academician cover various directions of geography: Caspian Sea, oceanology, ecology, planning of a landscape, etc. The cross-border problems of the Kura-Araz pool and environmental protection are the main directions of researches of the scientist. 

The next speaker, head of the Department of Economic and Social Geography of Baku State University (BSU), Professor Tapdig Hasanov said that, the way of life and his academic achievements are an example for young geographers. 

Then, in his speech, Professor of BSU Neron Babakhanov shared his memories about geographer. 

Then academician Hatam Guliyev, deputy director of ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics, doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences Dadash Huseynov, Dean of Faculty of Geography (BSU), Professor Ferda Imanov and others, congratulated the scientist on 65th anniversary and told about the scientist's merits in development of geographical science in Azerbaijan and also about R. Mamadov’s glorious way of life and human qualities.
