Tovuz Archaeological Expedition of ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography launched a new field research.

From July 1 of this year started its activities the International archaeological expedition of the Azerbaijan-France, which conducts research in Neolithic monuments of Tovuz region.

Note that, functioned the 8 years of joint expedition of Azerbaijani and French archaeologists investigated in Mentes, ancient settlement belonging to VI millennium BC.

The next field season of the expedition, which includes co-leader of the expedition on the French side Doctor, Professor Bertil Lyonnais and 12 French experts in anthropology, geomorphology and micromorphology, restoration, Trace Analysis and etc. specialties will be the final stage of research.

Next year it is planned to publish the scientific monograph devoted to results of the archaeological researches conducted for 8 years.

According to the head of expedition with the Azerbaijani party F.Guliyev, joint researches of the Azerbaijani and French archeologists in the Tovuz region will also come to the end.

In the coming years Tovuz Archaeological Expedition in collaboration with archaeologists of Tokyo University will continue their research in such ancient Neolithic settlements as Goytapa and Hajiallahmanli.
