American scientists visited Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography

Leading anthropologist-researcher of U.S. Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, director of Asia's cultural history program Poll Taylor who visited to our country and PhD in History of the University of Boston Jared Koller have been at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography.

In a meeting, Director of the institute, Prof. Maisa Rahimova stressed the utilization of the advanced technologies in latest archaeological studies.

Fulfillments are being carried out to develop electron map of archaeological and historical monuments of Karabakh which are of state importance by scientific support of the Institute and “Virtual Karabakh” ICT Center. Thus, within this project monuments in the territory of Karabakh will be registered in accordance with international standards on the e-map, was stated.

Then, American guests were displayed specially developed video images. Images reflected the use of GIS-technologies, radio magnetometer devices and other advanced research means in study of various monuments by Azerbaijani archaeologists.

Guests conducted exchange of views in a “round table” over new methods of archeological research, the used latest research means and on mutual collaboration in future.
