Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A meeting chaired by the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli was held at ANAS.

The meeting discussed the preparation for the General Assembly of ANAS to be held on February 20 and the details of the presentations on electronic services to be delivered during the event.

The event was attended by the Vice President of ANAS, Academician Rasim Aliguliyev, the Director-General of the Institute of Control Systems Academician Ali Abbasov, the Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of ANAS, PhD in History Farhad Guliyev, as well as employees of the “Electronic Academy” department of the Presidium administration of ANAS, young scientists of the Academy, and students from the National Aviation Academy.

The President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that significant progress had been made in the field of electronic services at the Academy in recent years and that these achievements are planned to be presented to the public at the General Assembly of the Academy. He underlined that the purpose of the meeting is to determine the details and directions of the presentations that would be presented to the public.

Then, the head of the “Electronic Academy” department of the Presidium administration of ANAS, PhD in Mathematics Fariz Imranov delivered a comprehensive presentation about the electronic services implemented by the department.

Fariz Imranov gave information about the development of the database that compiles information on the human resources of ANAS and scientometric indicators, as well as the Digital Scientific Information Resources System and the System for Processing Words with Universal Functionality, all created by the department’s staff. He noted that the scientometric indicators of the Academy’s scientific institutions, organizations, as well as employees in “Google Scholar”, “Scopus” and “Web of Science”, etc., are recorded and analyzed in the ANAS human resources and scientometric database. The ANAS Digital Scientific Information Resources System, created to enhance the integration of the scientific research process into the digital information environment, has been highly evaluated by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and is planned to be aligned with OpenAIRE, the European e-infrastructure, in the future.

Speaking about the System for Processing Words with Universal Functionality, developed for the adoption, analysis and application of artificial intelligence technologies, the head of the department said that a recording studio was established as part of the Microsoft Azure project. This studio opens up new opportunities for applying artificial intelligence technologies in the recognition, analysis and processing of the Azerbaijani language.

Fariz Imranov stated that the work carried out in the “Electronic Academy” department is also supported by the world-renowned Azerbaijani scientist Khalil Kalantar, who lives in Japan.

During the discussion, Academician Rasim Aliguliyev, Academician Ali Abbasov, and PhD in History Farhad Guliyev shared their thoughts and suggestions.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli underlined the importance of utilizing artificial intelligence and digital technologies in research conducted in the fields of humanities and social sciences. He issued relevant instructions and recommended that the proposals voiced during the meeting be considered in the presentations at the General Assembly of ANAS.
