Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Dear Mr. President,

Your Order dated March 18, 2025, on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences is a vivid expression of the high appreciation, given at the state level, to the development of science in our country and the contributions of scientists who have devoted their lives to scientific work.

This Order, of great historical significance, expresses your great respect for the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and its staff. The celebration of the 80th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences will serve as a report of Azerbaijani science to our independent state.

In the eighty years of its existence, the Academy’s anniversaries have been celebrated only three times. The first celebration took place in 1975, by the relevant decree of the leader of Soviet Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, marking the 30th anniversary of the Academy of Sciences. The event was held at the Republic Palace, and the Academy was awarded the Order of “Friendship of Peoples”. In the subsequent historical stages, under the relevant decrees and participation of Your Excellency, the 60th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences in 2005 and its 70th anniversary in 2015 were celebrated at the state level.

The state-level celebration of the anniversaries of the National Academy of Sciences not only reflects the high recognition of the Academy’s and our scientists’ contributions but has also served to further development of Azerbaijani science.

The measures arising from the Order signed by Your Excellency on the 80th anniversary of the Academy will also pave the way for Azerbaijani science to serve, at a higher level, the development strategy and national priorities of our independent state in this new historical period, as well as the universal ideals of science.

Esteemed Mr. President, the staff of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences extends its deep gratitude to You for the great attention and care shown towards the activities and development of the Academy, the highest state scientific institution of our country.

Our scientists are grateful to the National Leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev, and to Your Excellency as the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the preservation and development of Azerbaijani science as a whole including the National Academy of Sciences.

The historic Order signed on the last Tuesday before Novruz in 2025, a day of great significance for the Azerbaijani people, brought incomparable festive joy to Azerbaijani scientists and the staff of the National Academy of Sciences.
