On February 18, Presidium of ANAS hosted the meeting with the Country Director of the KOICA Office (Korean International Cooperation Agency) in Azerbaijan Mr. Choi Yonjae. Meeting aimed to inform the guest on latest innovative projects carried out in ANAS and discuss joint cooperation possibilities. Meeting was attended by ANAS President, Academician Akif Alizadeh, Vice-President of ANAS Academician Ibrahim Guliyev, head of International Relations Department of the Presidium Administration of ANAS PhD in geology-mineralogy, senior lecturer Gulam Babayev and head of the Department of Public Relations and Science Popularization Zulfugar Farzaliyev.
In advance, Acad. Akif Alizadeh gave information about studies held in the direction of priority scientific directions in ANAS and implemented projects in ANAS. Bringing to mind the celebration of ANAS’s 70th anniversary in last year, scientist spoke about the contributions of this scientific venture to world science.
Stressing out the ANAS scientists’ studies in connection with volcanoes of the world, A.Alizadeh noted that, ANAS has developed a map of world’s mud volcanoes, embracing scientific data about almost 3000 volcanoes. In addition, scientist made speech on high qualified staff training in ANAS, development of international ties, cooperation via world’s advanced scientific centers. Establishing master studies in ANAS for the first time has been highlighted as a vital achievement by academician.
Akif Alizadeh drew attention to the great successes of ANAS in genetics, biology, biotechnology and molecular biology. Meanwhile, researches are carried out in the spheres of ecology, protection of environment, bio ecological problems and stressed necessity to collaborate with Korea in this field and to set up laboratories.
Choi Yonjae highly gauged reforms and achievements of science in ANAS. Informing about KOICA’s experience, capabilities and implemented projects, the guest stated his readiness to render all necessary assistance in cooperation with relevant field and exchange of experience.
