The Ambassador of Türkiye to Azerbaijan, Professor Birol Akgün: “Practical steps are taken to deepen integration within the Turkic world.”

The Ambassador of Türkiye to Azerbaijan, Professor Birol Akgün delivered a speech at the international symposium titled “Azerbaijan and Türkiye in World Politics” held in Baku.

Professor Birol Akgün spoke about the strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, highlighting the increasing role of both countries in world politics and the importance of their joint positions. The ambassador underlined that preserving the rich Turkic spirituality and shared cultural values, as well as ensuring the transmission of our common past from yesterday to today and from today to the future, is currently a very important issue.

Professor Birol Akgün mentioned that the Turkic world has faced many problems and trials throughout history, but it has never changed its attitude towards its language, culture, and identity. Today, the Turkic heritage, which spans a thousand years, can be seen across a large area from Central Asia to the Balkan Peninsula.

The ambassador emphasized the historical significance of holding the centenary anniversary of the First Turkological Congress once again in Baku.

Birol Akgün said: “The Turkic world represents a large family of Turkic peoples who share common historical and cultural roots and live across various geographical territories.” He noted that concrete steps are being taken to deepen integration in Turkic world.

The ambassador emphasized the importance of publishing Turkic world common history textbooks, establishing a Terminological Union of the Turkic world, and developing a common alphabet for the Turkic world, and wished success to the organizers and attendees of the symposium.
