An event titled “The Unity of the Ideology of Azerbaijanism and Victory in the Works of Writer-Researcher Sadiq Garayev” was held at the Main Building of ANAS.
The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed first.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, analyzed the creative work of writer-researcher Sadiq Garayev and noted that he skillfully presents the idea of Azerbaijanism on a new intellectual plane. He emphasized the importance of the writer’s works as valuable examples that serve as heralds of Azerbaijani thought and ideology and reflect the contemporary level of scholarly and literary discourse, particularly in terms of promoting national and moral values.
The President of ANAS stated that the Academy is not limited solely to the development of scientific fields but also organizes various types of events to serve public interests. He highlighted art exhibitions held at different institutes and organizations as one of the Academy’s scientific and social activity areas. He noted that currently 28 employees working at various scientific institutions of the Academy, including Doctors of Philosophy and Doctors of Science, are engaged in the visual arts. Academician Isa Habibbeyli stressed that the works of these individuals—who work in history, literature, informatics, physics, and other scientific fields—reflect not only artistic expression but also new ideas, logic, and deep thinking. Alongside inspiration, cognition and a scientific approach occupy a special place.
The head of ANAS stated that literary creative methods are closely linked to socio-political systems, noting that while single-party systems have a unified literary method, multiparty systems give rise to diverse creative methods and differing perspectives. In this regard, he underlined that the literary methods of the Soviet period differ significantly from contemporary creative trends.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that over the past more than 30 years, prominent figures representing various literary movements have emerged in Azerbaijani literature, and during this period a new movement called academism has begun to take shape in literature and art, with writers and artists in Azerbaijan representing this movement.
Calling writer-researcher Sadiq Garayev one of the prominent representatives of the academism literary movement in Azerbaijani literature, the President of ANAS stated that representatives of this movement are expected not only to demonstrate artistry but also to maintain a clear intellectual position. In this context, alongside artistic thinking, a scientific view of the problem must be presented, and balance between these two directions must be preserved.
According to him, the works of Sadiq Garayev, written in both scientific-philosophical and artistic styles, are of great importance for modern Azerbaijani literature and public thought.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that the writer’s works are reliable sources that comprehensively, richly, and substantively present the ideology of statehood. He emphasized that in Sadiq Garayev’s creative output, the idea of Azerbaijanism, the concept of statehood, national pride, and the spirit of Victory are fully reflected in both artistic and scientific aspects.
In conclusion, Academician Isa Habibbeyli stressed that Sadiq Garayev, distinguished by his creative style, holds a unique place in contemporary Azerbaijani literature and wished him success in his future endeavors. He noted that national and universal values are reflected in a distinctive manner in the writer’s works, and that reflections on the spirit and consciousness of Azerbaijanism are articulated with great mastery.
Afterwards, Director of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, Professor Ilham Mammadzadeh, evaluated the legacy of Sadiq Garayev—who conveys his scientific knowledge to the public through artistic creativity—from philosophical perspectives. He noted that all aspects of the ideology of Azerbaijanism in Garayev’s works form a scientific and artistic synthesis down to the plot and details.
Professor Ilham Mammadzadeh emphasized that the writer stands out in the literature of Azerbaijan’s independence period with works written on the basis of the unity of scientific cognition and artistic thinking. He highly appreciated Sadiq Garayev’s works in various genres, which depict his scientific ideas and philosophical and social views through artistic imagination, describing them as valuable examples of prose, and wished the author new creative successes.
Member of the Milli Majlis Jeyhun Mammadov also spoke, stating that the themes of Azerbaijanism, statehood, and the spirit of Victory are presented in Sadiq Garayev’s works, and noted that he openly and courageously demonstrates his position as a patriotic intellectual.
Looking back at history, Jeyhun Mammadov noted that the Azerbaijani people have faced external pressure and hostile policies for many years. From a historical perspective, he stated that Azerbaijan has achieved a major strategic victory, emphasizing that the geopolitical and economic consequences of this victory in all parameters have laid the foundation for a new stage.
He stressed the necessity of conducting ideological outreach to ensure that historical tragedies are not forgotten and not repeated in the future, highlighting the importance of producing more works, books, and monographs in this direction.
“Processes taking place in the world today further increase the importance of ideological security,” Jeyhun Mammadov said, noting that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed ideological issues very extensively in his powerful speech at the meeting marking the 80th anniversary of ANAS and in his interviews with local television channels. He emphasized that the Head of State’s calls to protect national and moral values, particularly the purity of the Azerbaijani language, are manifestations of the President’s deep commitment to the history and identity of his people.
Later, Chairman of the Yasamal District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), Bakhtiyar Nabiyev, spoke, stating that alongside his literary activity, Sadiq Garayev has always actively participated in the country’s socio-political life. He discussed the role of the ideals of Azerbaijanism in strengthening statehood and achieving victories, and particularly highlighted the role of fiction in conveying these victories to future generations and the peoples of the world.
Bakhtiyar Nabiyev noted that the ideology of Azerbaijanism is the ideological pillar of modern Azerbaijan. Founded by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, this ideology is based on the principles of respect for the state and love for the Motherland in the wise and far-sighted policies of President Ilham Aliyev.
Stating that today, under the leadership of Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan is recognized worldwide as a victorious state and its people as a proud nation, Bakhtiyar Nabiyev emphasized that the Victory achieved in the Second Karabakh War is a significant event in Azerbaijan’s history of independence and statehood as a whole. He noted the importance of combating ideological provocations in line with the challenges of the new era, adding that in this regard, great responsibility falls on the shoulders of intellectuals.
At the event, Director of the Muhammad Fuzuli Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS, Academician Teymur Kerimli; Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Doctor of Historical Sciences Eynulla Medetli; Head of Department of the same institute, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences Fuzuli Gurbanov; Leading Researcher, PhD in Philosophy, Associate Professor Radif Mustafayev; Chief Researcher of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, Doctor of Philological Sciences Yashar Gasimbeyli; and others delivered speeches.
