Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, has met with Academician Anastas Angjeli, Honorary President of the Albania Mediterranean University, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting held at the Presidium of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Albania have strengthened in recent years, with friendship and economic cooperation continuing to expand.

Highlighting that the growing ties are also creating new opportunities in the scientific sphere, Academician Isa Habibbeyli provided the guests with information about the history of ANAS, its scientific institutions and organizations, ongoing research projects, and priority areas. He also spoke about the achievements of recent years and future prospects for cooperation.

In turn, Academician Anastas Angjeli expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and noted that their visit to Azerbaijan is taking place within the framework of the 13th Global Baku Forum.

Providing information about the history, structure, and international projects of the Albania Mediterranean University, Anastas Angjeli elaborated in particular on the university’s scientific potential and its experience in international cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the draft text of a Memorandum of Understanding to be signed between ANAS and the Albanian Academy of Sciences, and identified specific areas of scientific cooperation.

In addition, the sides emphasized the importance of scientific cooperation between the two countries and exchanged views on expanding joint projects and promoting collaborative research.

At the end of the meeting, the guests toured the Presidium building of ANAS and took commemorative photos.

The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania to Azerbaijan, Besart Kadia; Vice-Rector of the Albania Mediterranean University, Professor Arben Cici; diplomat Dorian Koçi; Head of the Department of Foreign Relations and Work with International Scientific Organizations of the ANAS Presidium Office, Associate Professor Esmira Alirzayeva; and Head of the Department of Public Relations, Press, and Information of the ANAS Presidium Office, Associate Professor Agahuseyn Shukurov.
