Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbeyli, met with a delegation led by Associate Professor Dr. Sorin Bocancea, Rector of Petre Andrei University in Iași, Romania.

During the meeting, Academician Isa Habibbeyli emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Romania are developing at a high level across various fields. He particularly noted the importance of expanding cooperation in science and education, adding that ANAS already has a scientific cooperation agreement with a Romanian university. The head of ANAS also highlighted the importance of establishing ties not only with universities but also with research institutes of the Romanian Academy. He stressed initiatives such as organizing joint scientific conferences, publishing books, and exchanging academic articles as promising areas for cooperation, and expressed confidence that the meeting would serve as a stimulus for future collaboration.

In his remarks, Rector of Petre Andrei University Sorin Bocancea introduced the members of the delegation and provided information about the university’s history and areas of activity. He noted that on April 22, a presentation ceremony was held at Karabakh University for a special issue of the scientific journal “Polis” dedicated to Azerbaijan. The rector emphasized that they are interested in developing scientific cooperation with ANAS and Azerbaijani universities.

Executive Director of the journal “Polis,” Associate Professor Dr. Sabin Dragulin, then spoke about the publication’s history, principles for accepting academic articles, and its international activities. He stated that the journal is published in Romanian, English, German, and Italian and is widely recognized within the international scientific community. He also invited Azerbaijani scholars to collaborate with the journal.

During the meeting, a special issue of the journal “Polis” dedicated to Azerbaijan was presented to Academician Isa Habibbeyli, and books were exchanged between the parties.

At the end of the visit, the delegation toured the ANAS Presidium building and was informed about its history.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Azerbaijan Vasile Soare, First Secretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania Ilgar Farajov, Vice-Rector for Academic and Scientific Affairs of Petre Andrei University Associate Professor Dr. Teodora Prelipcean, Associate Professor Dr. Cristian Bocancea, Executive Director of “Polis” Associate Professor Dr. Sabin Dragulin, Chair of the Senate of Petre Andrei University Dr. Lavinia Maria Pruteanu, laureate of the Romanian Academy’s “Henri H. Stahl” Prize in Sociology for 2025 Associate Professor Dr. Ciprian Iftimioai, representative of the Cotroceni National Museum under the Presidential Administration in Bucharest PhD in Political Science Ioana Dragulin, as well as Head of the Department for Foreign Relations and International Organizations of the ANAS Presidium Office Esmira Alirzayeva, Head of the Department of Public Relations, Press and Information Agahuseyn Shukurov, and others.
