Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Head of the Department of Electro mechanics of Sumgait State University, Honored Scientist and corresponding member of ANAS Firuddin Mammadov is 80.

In 1936, enrolling in Azerbaijan Institute of Industry Firuddin Mammadov received education on a specialty the "Automation, Remote Control and measuring instruments."

The working activity began as a research assistant in the Scientific Research Institute of in Azerbaijan petrochemical industry, and later worked as a researcher and senior researcher.

He defended his thesis on "Telemechanical Systems of Measurement of Oil Fields", doctoral dissertation - "Information and measuring systems." In 2001 he was elected a corresponding member of ANAS.

He is the author of over 260 scientific papers, including 5 monographs, 34 patents.

Besides scientific activity the scientist was also engaged in pedagogical activity. Since 1961 he worked as a teacher, associate professor, professor, head of the department and the dean at Sumgait State University.

Under his leadership 169 PhD and 1 doctor of sciences defended the dissertation.

The results of his research work have been widely applied in the automation of cathodic protection supports offshore structures, automatic measurement of glass thickness, measuring the technological parameters of deep pumps, etc.

The merits of the scientist were highly appreciated by the state. By order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev dated October 3, 2007 he was awarded the "Honored Worker of Science".
