Prominent scientist in the field of chemistry, laureate of the State Prize of Azerbaijan, Chevalier Order the "Sharaf" and "Shohrat", chief researcher at ANAS Institute of Chemistry of Additives, active member of ANAS, and the New York Academy of Sciences Sadikhov Kamil Ismail oglu passed away on 8 July 2016 at age of 89.

Kamil Sadikhov was born on February 27, 1922 in the Ordjonikidze of Autonomous Republic of North Ossetia, Russian Federation. He graduated from the chemical faculty of Azerbaijan State University, the first studies conducted in the field of additive chemistry.

He began his career in 1948, and later worked at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes after Kuibyshev, since 1965 - at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives.

In Kamil Sadikhov's works a number of fundamental theoretical and almost important issues of petro chemistry is solved — scientific bases for matching of the initial raw materials used in synthesis effective the sulfonate of additives are developed, correlations between a chemical structure and their efficiency are found, a number of effective additives to engine oils and lubricant cooling liquids, and also their compositions is synthesized; are developed and implemented in the industry of the production technology of these substances.

In 1957, he successfully defended his dissertation on "Synthesis, research and application of sulfonate additive for automotive oil" and his doctoral thesis on "Synthesis and use of technology and research in the field of industrial applications of cleaning and antioxidant agents for automotive oils" in 1968. In 1969 he became a professor in the specialty oil and gas chemistry.

In 1980 he was elected a corresponding member of ANAS on petrochemical field. Later, in 2001 he was elected a full member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in specialty chemicals.

As a result of the researches conducted in recent years on the basis of oil, synthetic and semi-synthetic raw materials the production technology of a row neutral, average and high sulfonate alkaline the additives meeting the modern requirements has been developed. Results of researches have allowed to organize production of high-quality engine oils in the industry on the basis of basic oils in Baku and to increase the term of their operation by 2-3 times.

In 1970 K.Sadikhov was awarded the State Prize of Azerbaijan in the field of science and technology for achievements in the field of additives.

The scientist is the author of more than 300 new syntheses of organic compounds containing the elements sulfur, phosphorus and nitrogen.

K.Sadikhov repeatedly was awarded the medals of the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy of the USSR, diplomas and certificates of honor of the All-Union Chemical Society after D.I Mendeleev, the badge "Inventor of the USSR".

Studies of Academician for many years, are reflected in more than 400 scientific works, including more than 100 patents.

Fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity of the scientist was highly appreciated by the government. In 1987 he was awarded the Order "Sharaf", and in 2004 - "Shohrat".
