Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On August 29, a celebrate chemist Honored Inventor of Azerbaijan with order “Shohrat”, head scientific worker of the Institute of Polymer Materials corresponding member of ANAS Mustafa Sattar oglu Salahov is 85 years old.

Mustafa Salahov was born in Baku on August 29, 1931, graduated from Gorky State University faculty of “Physical chemistry” in 1955.

Entered the post-graduate education of the Instituet of Oil in Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences in 1958, and supervising by Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev he defended PhD thesis in 1964, doctoral thesis in 1974. Gained a title of professor in 1976. Elected a corresponding member of ANAS in 2001.

In 1955, M. Salahov started for labor activity in Sumgait, at the plant "Synthetic rubber". Since 1966 up today, worked an organizer and head of several laboratories, a Deputy Director for scientific affairs at the Institute of Organic Synthesis of Chlorine in 1974-77 (now the Institute of Polymer Materials). In the years 1993-94 worked at Turkey's Marmara Research Center (TUBITAK).

Scientist investigated exhaustive chlorination of C1-C5 hydrocarbons, established laws of formation of chlorocarbons C 1 -C 6, the possibility of allocating C60 and prevention of dioxin xenobiotics. His creative work harmoniously combines fundamental and applied science.

M.Salahov has authored more than 1,100 scientific papers, including nearly 200 patents, 5 chemical processes 12 books. Under his leadership, 4 doctors of sciences have been prepared, 31 PhD and 20 Masters.

M.Salahov is chairman of Problem Council on the scientific direction of Organic Chemistry of the National Council of the Organization and Coordination of Research, an honorary member of the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan, member of the National Union of Teachers, Professor of Baku State University, as well as - the academician of the International Council for Scientific Development of the International Academy of Sciences and the actual member of the International Academy of Modern Sciences on behalf Lotfi Zadeh.

The merits of the scientist were highly appreciated by the state. In 2004, the Order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic he was awarded "Shohrat" for achievements in the field of science.

M.Salahov was awarded the "Golden badge" International Academy of Sciences, academician M.Mehdizadeh medals and academic Y.Mammadaliyev, winner diploma of the All-Russia exhibition of scientific and technical creativity.
