National Museum of Azerbaijan History of ANAS carries out an important mission in the restoration and preservation of our national values.

Recently restorers of the museum have restored former appearance of ethnographic material - folk costumes. Among the restored exhibits are presented national samples of clothing outerwear "arkhalig" and trousers, protecting in the exposition and storing in the ethnographic fund. Presented samples of clothing, belonging to the XIX century, which were used in Karabakh, Baku, Nakhchivan regions, have been damaged by time of exposure and lost their quality. Arkhalig and trousers were restored by the technique "darning". Restoration and conservation of national costumes is essential in preservation and promotion of national cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.
