Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

A notable scientist, celebrate pediatrician, social figure, Honored Scientist with orders “Shohrat” and “Sharaf”, chair department at the Azerbaijan Medical University, Academician Adila Namazova is 90 years old.

Adila Namazova was born on September 9, 1926 in Seyidli village of Aghdam region. After graduating Azerbaijan Medical University in 1949, operated as an post-graduate of Department of Pediatrics at the Central Doctors Improvement Institute in Moscow and defended PhD thesis there, a doctoral thesis at the Pediatrics Institute of the Medical Academy of Sciences of USSR in 1965, and gained the academic name of professor in 1967. Since 1965 up today, she is a chief of the Department of Children's Diseases II.

Academician A.Namazova is a notable scientist, who internationally recognized in the field of pediatrics. Her key research objects are congenital heart diseases on children, arterial hypertension and epidemiology of hypertension disease, congenital anomalies of organs and systems in newborn children, diagnosis of congenital heart defects etc.

A.Namazova is the first azerbaijanian woman, who has been doctor of sciences in pediatrics and elected a member to the Azerbaijan and Russian Academy of Sciences. She supervised 62 Doctors of Sciences and PhDs.

Scientists is an author of over 350 academic works, including 30 monographs, manuals, methodic aids and 6 inventions.

A.Namazova is a President of Pediatricians’ Association, a board member of World and European Association of Pediatricians, Vice-President of the Association of Pediatricians of the Turkic-Speaking Countries, President of V Congress of Turkic-speaking countries and other countries, deputy of USSR, as well as committee chairman of Supreme Soviet. She is a chairman of competition commission “Academician M.Topchubashov’s lectures" of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, co-chair of the Children's Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. She was awarded the State Laureate of the Republic of Azerbaijan, order “Shohrat” of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Badge “On behalf of M.A.Topchubashov” (2006), “Order of Saint Tsar Dmitry” by Patriarch of Russian and Moscow Alexei II, order “Sharaf” of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2011), ANAS’s Prize on behalf of Academician Mirasadulla Mirgasimov in 2016.
