Organized a seminar on grant "Active geodynamics of the Caucasus" in Georgia

1-5 October 2016 in Tbilisi and Kvareli cities of Georgia was held a meeting on the program (PEER) expansion of the US National Academy of Sciences research cooperation ties and the International Development Agency (USAID). The meeting is organized by the grant "Active geodynamics of the Caucasus", the head of which is Academician-Secretary of Department of Earth Sciences of ANAS, head of the department of Geodynamics and Seismology at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics - Academician Fakhraddin Gadirov.

Delegation, representing our country at the meeting, is included - a leading researcher in the Department of Geodynamics and Seismology at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS, a spokesman for the Center for Science and Technologies in Ukraine (STCU) in Azerbaijan, PhD in Earth Sciences, Associate Professor Gulam Babayev, senior researcher at the Department, PhD in Earth sciences, Associate Professor Azer Gadirov, a young scientist of department - chief technician Elvin Babayev and engineer Imran Muradi.

During the event, a seminar was organized, dedicated to the study and analysis of the new program GAMIT-GLOBK for the GPS-measurements of joint processing carried out in the Caucasus, led by MIT professor Robert Reilinger. The workshop was listened presentations on various topics.

Report of the American scientist "The study and analysis of the new program GAMIT-GLOBK for the GPS-measurements of joint processing carried out in the Caucasus" has caused great interest of the participants.

At the seminar, experts of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA and the countries participating in the grant project PEER informed them in detail about the results achieved.

The executive Grant PEER from the Azerbaijani side Gulam Babayev made in connection with the results achieved in the study of links variations in the gravitational field of Sheki region with seismic events, time-cluster analysis of seismicity along the tectonic structure Absheron-Balakhani, seism dynamic segmentation of the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus on the basis of tension map and GPS monitoring results in Azerbaijan.

In conclusion of the meeting it was decided to continue the project.
