Corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akperov represented our country at the 1st International Agro biodiversity Congress

Director of the Institute of Genetic Resources corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akperov was on a trip to Delhi city, India for 4 days.

Within the visit, he has represented our country at the International Agro biodiversity Congress co-organized by Rome International Biodiversity Institute and Indian Government joint with over 10 international and more than 40 national academic centers.

The grandiose event, bringing together celebrate scientists invited from 60 countries of the world, and Nobel Prize winners, was dedicated to the discussion of research studies on sustainable protection and efficient usage of world agro biodiversity, future needs, priorities, and challenges of a new era.

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the father of the Green Revolution, Professor M.S.Swaminathan, the founder of the Indian Academy of Agriculture, Professor Raj Poroda, senior officials of BBI and FAO, including prominent scientists were attended the event with lectures.

Corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akperov informed the attendees about works done in Azerbaijan concerning agro biodiversity, obtained achievements, and development plans. In addition, exchange of views was held at the bilateral and multilateral meetings on issues of mutual interests.

In closing, attendees of the 1st International Agro biodiversity Congress adopted Dehli Declamation, which solicits for UNO to declare “The year of agro biodiversity” in addition to several vital issues.
