Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

By agreement with the Board of Trustees of Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Education and the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and taking into account the effectiveness of research funding through grants announced targeted grant competition "Integration of science and education" in 2016.

The competition is meets the objectives held on December 21, 2016 the joint general meeting of ANAS the scientific session of the Board and the Ministry of Education set out in the direction of the integration of science and education in Azerbaijan.

The competition is aimed to stimulate scientific activities of research institutions, departments, centers and other research institutions, to improve their provision of modern scientific instruments and equipment, the maintenance of sustainable development of individual scientific fields and areas (in particular, multidisciplinary research), creation of conditions for essential and competitive research results, as well as providing training.

Financing of the projects provided by structures according to comprehensive research programs is provided by delivery of grants of large volume of financing (100 thousand - 500 thousand manat). In projects for scientists issue the stimulating salary, equipment procurement and devices, and also study tours is planned.

Academic and educational institutions take rather active part in grant competitions of Fund of development of science. The statistical analysis of results of 26 various competitions held by Fund in 2010-2015 shows that from 444 grant projects heads 272 represent the academic structures (61.26%-from total, and the financial volume of 74.45% from the general financing), and heads 129 (29.05% - from total, and the financial volume of 18.75% - from the general financing), – 21 educational institutions (18 universities, 2 educational academies and 1 lyceum).

When forming the temporary on-stage performance group participating in a competition the parity among scientists from the academic and educational structures has to be considered, total number shouldn't exceed 8 people (including heads), the date of performance of projects shouldn't exceed one year. The fund of development of science will carry out scientific expertize of the projects submitted on a competition and to organize periodic monitoring of the won projects.

For participation in a competition projects will be approved from January 5 to February 28, 2017 till 17:00. Results of a competition will be announced in 1 half of 2017.
