Scientists of Institute of Geology of National academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan studied geodynamic situation in territories along the oil pipeline of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and found out that seismic danger causing concern there isn't present. Researches were conducted on the basis of studying of vertical and horizontal earth movements, and also dynamic features of soil. Leveling and gravimetric measurement were for this purpose applied, earthquakes at 4 seismic stations along the pipeline were registered. Researches were conducted with BP company support within the “Geodynamic Monitoring of Territories along and round the BTC Pipeline” project. The project manager is the head of department of geodynamics and institute of seismology, corresponding member of ANAS Fakhreddin Gadirov noted that some breeds are capable to increase risk and earthquake force. All these researches are directed on an assessment of threats: “As a result of the works realized since 2008 to this day, it is possible to tell that in territories through which passes the pipeline, geodynamic activity is present constantly, but now danger of possible damage of the pipeline isn't present”. F.Gadirov added that it is necessary to continue researches.
