Alley of Honor honored the memory of the outstanding scientist-orientalist, Hero of the Soviet Union, Academician Ziya Bunyadov and laid flowers and a wreath at his tomb on February 24.

At the memorial ceremony Director of the scientific institute, corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva told about a rich and meaningful life path, great scientific heritage of the Academician Z. Bunyadov, and he created a scientific school

It was noted that pupils scholar worthy of continuing his way. Spread far beyond the country's glory of Azerbaijan oriental school thanks to his fundamental research, Z.Bunyadov was known as a prominent expert on the history of the East and the Arab Caliphate, Azerbaijan, the Caucasus and Central Asia, the Middle Ages.

Director of the Institute noted that, as a world-renowned scientist Z.Bunyadov was also awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for the shown during the Great Patriotic War heroism, his sharp pen on a high level of defending the interests of his people as in the Soviet period and in the years of independence, he was one of the main figures who conducted the struggle for the independence of their country.

Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Oriental Studies, corresponding member of ANAS, Shahin Mustafayev, Head of the Department of history and economy of the Arab countries of the Institute, PhD in history Farda Asadov and others spoke about the rich heritage of the outstanding scientist, his merits in the development of Oriental Studies of Azerbaijan.
