On March 6, at a meeting of the Presidium of ANAS were held discussions on the status and prospects for the development of research in the humanities. Speaking at the meeting, the head of Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, Corresponding Member of ANAS Nizami Jafarov touched upon the problems of Azerbaijani linguistics of the modern period, voiced proposals on ways to solve them.

In particular, he spoke about the state of school textbooks. Stressed the need to eliminate shortcomings in textbooks.

The scientist expressed his attitude to the issue of the spelling dictionary of the Azerbaijani language. N.Jafarov noted the importance of improving dictionaries used in the preparation of textbooks and teaching aids, as well as in the compilation of texts.

He also voiced his proposals in connection with the integration into the world science of the important results achieved by the Department of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS, the deepening of scientific research and the training of highly qualified personnel.
