Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Director of the Regional Experimental Resource Center for Environmentally Friendly Agriculture of the Institute of Botany of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Amin Babayev was elected the laureate of the One World Award.

The competition was held with the joint organization of the International Federation of the Organic Agriculture Movement (IFOAM) and the company RAPUNZEL (Germany). At the initial assessment stage, the scientist was elected one of the five laureates of the competition for his services in the development of the movement for ecological agriculture in Azerbaijan over the past 20 years, the development of scientific bases for the propagation and application of this industry in our country, the creation of a legal framework and an information database, as well as the training of highly specialized personnel.

In order to get acquainted with the activities of Professor Amin Babayev in Azerbaijan, the representatives of the organization IFOAM and the company RAPUNZEL are on a visit to our country. Within the framework of the visit, which will last until April 13, meetings will be held in Baku, Ganja and Gakh, guests will get acquainted with the scientific and pedagogical activities of the scientist.

Winners of the contest, which is held every two years since 2004, are identified by assessing the most important achievements in the ecological, economic and social spheres; The evaluation is carried out on the basis of special criteria. The award ceremony of the winners of the current competition will be held in September this year in Germany.

Before that, Professor Amin Babayev was awarded the Order of the M.V. Lomonosov International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety (Associated Member of the United Nations) and the title of Honored Worker of Science. The scientist is a member of the organization IFOAM, the European Association for Plant Research (EUCARPIA), the Scientific Society of Soil Scientists of America (SSSA) and the American Society of Agronomists (ASA).
