The territory of Nakhchivan turned clockwise direction by 30-40 degrees in stages during the Jurassic and Paleogene periods, by 20-25 degrees in the opposite direction back to the Eocene period. This was uncovered as a result of studies carried out by employees of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics.

Chief of Magnetism department of this scientific venture Professor Manidza Isayeva headed for pale magnetic studies in the sediments of Jurassic and Paleogene and Eocene eras on the mentioned territories since 2015 up today.

Analysis of the results of other studies indicates that in the eastern-south of the Great Caucasus horizontal movements of the ground layer from the west to the east is growing to the north rapidly. But returns of movements are reduced.

M.Isayeva stated that, obtained pale magnetic results informs about feature of magnet layer of the Earth in the regions which are the object of research. These data paves the way to set up a common magnetic scale of Nakhchivan’s territory and southern-east part of the Great Caucasus covering Jurassic and Paleogene and Eocene eras.
