Employees of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS have conducted several researches on antiquity.

Thus, before the era near Garacemirli village of Shamkir region, the ancient complex of the palace complex in V-IV centuries was continued. In addition, archaeological excavations were carried out on the top floor of ancient and medieval Galatia town, located in Salmanbayli village of Aghjabadi district.

 At the same time, excavations were carried out in the ancient settlement of Gagali Necropolis in Shamakhi district. Based on the findings of the material culture found in the study, Gegali necropolis was referred to the Middle Ages.
