Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasifom Talybovym Ceremony donated holy book "Quran" to Imam Al-Bukhari museum temple located in Samarkand.

The event was attended by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Uzbekistan Huseyn Guliyev, head of the Memorial Complex of Imam Al-Bukhari Ilkhom Ramazanov, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences, Academician Teymur Kerimli, embassy counselor Mahir Hajiyev and representatives of the authorities of Samarkand region.

At the event, Huseyn Guliyev spoke about the Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations, the friendly relations of our peoples, continuing for centuries, unity of the language, roots, culture and religion of our peoples. He spoke about the attention of the Azerbaijani state to religion and the current atmosphere of tolerance in the country.

The diplomat noted that, while staying in Samarkand, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vasif Talibov, visited the Imam Al-Bukhari temple and got acquainted with the books "Koran" donated to the church by various state and religious figures. The Chairman of the Supreme Mejlis made a decision to present a sacred book "Koran" from Azerbaijan prepared as a gift to the museum.

Then, Academician Isa Habibbayli recalled the announcement by President Ilham Aliyev of 2017 as the "Year of Islamic solidarity" and Islamic solidarity games held in our country this year. Stressing Azerbaijan's desire for friendship and cooperation with the Islamic world, Academician spoke about the importance of the event, the preservation of Islamic traditions and the state policy pursued in this direction.

Ilkhom Ramazanov informed about the memorial complex and highly appreciated the initiative of Azerbaijan. Expressing gratitude to the Chairman of the Supreme Mejlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Ilkhom Ramazanov said that, the book "Koran" presented in an elegant design will be demonstrated in the museum.
