The Egyptian National Library and Archives signed a cooperation protocol with Central library of Azerbaijan

Chairman of Egyptian National Library and Archives, Professor of the University of Ain Shams, a well-known scientist in Islamic archeology Ahmed Seyyid Mohammed Shovgi visited ANAS Central Scientific Library.

The scientist together with the head of the Cultural Center of the Egyptian Embassy in Azerbaijan Ahmed Sami Elaidi got acquainted with the modern administrative building of the library and reading rooms.

Speaking at a bilateral meeting, head of the Department of International and Public Relations of the Central Scientific Library, Mubariz Goyushlu, told the guests about the activities of the library, National Digital Memory project, documents stored in funds, Arabic-language sources and books.

At the meeting it was noted that, more than 500 thousand unique books are kept in the library, headed by Ahmed Seyid Mohammed Shovgi. He stressed the need to expand scientific ties between the two structures.

Then, between the Egyptian National Library and Archives and ANAS Central Scientific Library was signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The document provides for cooperation between the two structures in the field of the exchange of resources, their digitization, restoration and conservation of rare books, as well as the development of personnel.

In conclusion, guests were donated books "History of carpet weaving of the Karabakh region" and "Garabagh - the chronicle of centuries" in Azerbaijani, English and Russian languages, as well as works of Nobel Prize winner, Egyptian writer Mahfouz Nasib, translated into Azerbaijani.
