The monument of V-IX centuries has been discovered in Tulu village of Balakan region

A monument of V-IX centuries was discovered in the Tulu village of Balakan region by the archaeological research expedition of the Christian monuments of the Caucasian Albania of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS.

As a result of archaeological exploration conducted on the Eastern walls of the Tuli Tomb, it was determined that the Christian monument of Caucasian Albania was a bell tower. Albanian Christian monument belonging to Caucasian Albania with a total length of 12 meters 70 centimeters was involved in the research.

Natig Alishov, a leading scientific worker at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, said the researches were first carried on the outer walls of the monument. Once the external architectural features have been identified, internal research will be started. The floor part of the monument consists of square shaped bricks with dimensions of 20x20 meters and between 4-5 cm.

According to the archeologist, the ceramic items are rarely seen here since the monument is considered sacred.

"It is felt that there was a fire first in the monument, and later there were about 15 cultural layers that reflected the process of sedimentation, which reflects the sediment-disintegration process in the upper layer, which is about 50 cm and it is observed that the other layers have gradually dissipated, and traces of fire and ash were discovered here, "Alishov said.

According to the archeologist, archeological researches in the monument are important for the development of archeology in Azerbaijan, the presence of religious diversity in the region, and the transfer of the monument to future generations.
