International symposium told about the realities of Azerbaijan in Turkey

International Symposium on "Legal and Historical Aspects of the First World War" told about the realities of Azerbaijan held in Turkey.

At the event, organized by the Historical Structure of Turkey and the University of Istanbul, ANAS Director of the Institute of History, Academician Yagub Mahmudov brought to the attention of those present a number of historical facts related to our country.

Yagub Mahmudov said: "Historians of the victorious countries, when they studied the history of the First World War, created a false history. The real story is left out of attention. During the First World War, with the active support of the great powers, Armenians, from Eastern Anatolia and Southern Azerbaijan, committed horrible genocides throughout Northern Azerbaijan.

The bloody Dashnak-Bolshevik regime led by Stepan Shaumyan, who in November 1917 seized power in Baku and throughout the province of Baku, deliberately and systematically conducted a mass act of genocide against the Azerbaijani people.

Dashnaks committed genocide against the Turkic peoples, even in Turkestan and other places in Central Asia. These atrocities must be given a legal assessment. The world community should know the executors and guides of this policy".

According to the academician, during the First World War, people of Azerbaijan lost their lands: "On May 29, 1918, Armenians created the state in the territory of Irevan and surrounding Azerbaijani lands. This issue should also receive a legal assessment. For the Armenians in the South Caucasus did not have an ethnic territorial base. Without the consent of the people of Azerbaijan, his land was transferred to the Armenians by the great powers. Armenians, violating all the obligations undertaken in return for the return of Irevan, destroyed the aboriginal Azerbaijani population in the territory of the newly created Ararat-Armenian Republic. The Armenians committed acts of genocide in the Azerbaijani territories and advanced new territorial claims. These issues should also be examined from a legal point of view".

At the end of his speech, Yagub Mahmudov donated to the head of the Turkish Historical Structure, Professor Rafig Turan a fundamental study "Azerbaijani carpets: the Iranian group", the Karabakh carpet and a large number of the Institute's publications dedicated to the history of genocides.
