Conducted laboratory study of the finds discovered in the Polutepe ancient settlement

Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS continues laboratory study of the findings discovered in the Polutepe ancient settlement conducted this year in the village of Uchtepe, Jalilabad region.

According to the leading scientific employee of the Institute, head of the Polutepe expedition, Doctor of historical sciences Tufan Akhundov, at present the plan of the newly explored settlement is being drawn up, the features of the building style that was used by the ancient population are determined.

T.Akhundov reported on the classification of identified finds - tools made of stone and bone, ceramic products, as well as the creation of their graphic phyto-images. "On the other hand, studies are ongoing to identify the distinctive features or direct analogies of the finds found from monuments located in the territory of Azerbaijan and neighboring regions of that period. At the same time, a number of materials were submitted to the appropriate laboratories for palaeobiological and palynological research".

It should be noted that, this year during the field research the territory of the study of the ancient settlement of Polutepe was expanded, as a result of the study was specified the thickness of the Neolithic-Halcolith layer.
