ANAS held next meeting of the Division of Earth Sciences.

ANAS President, academician Akif Alizadeh, Vice-President, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, members of the Department, directors of institutes, Deputy Directors for scientific work and scientific secretaries attended in the event.

Speaking at the meeting, ANAS academician-secretary, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov said that, the event was devoted to the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the institutes of Geology and Geophysics, Oil and Gas, and the Museum of Natural History in 2017.

Further, Deputy Director for scientific work of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, corresponding member of ANAS Dadash Huseynov presented a report on the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the structure he represents for 2017. The scientist noted that in the reporting year, 18 scientific and research works were carried out on 4 problems covering 10 topics. D.Huseynov brought to attention that, part of the research was carried out jointly with the National Research Council of Italy, the University of Michigan, and National Center for Scientific Research of France, University of Toulouse, France and other international organizations and scientific structures.

In the reporting year, work was carried out within the framework of the State Program on Social and Economic Development of the Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2014-2018, the State Program for the Development of Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2015-2020, the Program of Measures for Research and Threat Reduction radon in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2014-2018", Development Concept "Azerbaijan-2020. A look to the future" and the Action Plan on the Concept of Development of ANAS until 2020.

The Deputy Director brought to the attention the completion of 4 grant projects this year and continued work on 6 projects. It was noted that in the 2017-2018 academic year, 7 people entered the Master's program of IGG for 5 specialties. In the Institute for the program of training doctors of sciences receive a doctoral education of 23 people, and according to the program of preparation of doctors of philosophy - 17 people.

Dadash Huseynov noted that, during the reporting period, the Institute's staff published 123 scientific articles (45 of them abroad). He said that 33 of the published articles were published in magazines with an impact factor, 7 articles are included in the Thomson Reuters database.

In conclusion of his speech, the scientist stressed that the Strategic Roadmap of the IGG identified 13 priority areas, the implementation of which will begin in 2018.

Then, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Institute of Oil and Gas (IGG), Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Vagif Gurbanov delivered a report on the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the structure he submits for 2017. The scientist noted that, during the reporting period 11 research works were carried out on 7 topics covering 3 problems.

He also brought to attention that work is continuing in connection with the implementation of the State Program for the Development of Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2015-2020.

State Program for the Implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of the Information Society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2016-2020.

V.Gurbanov said that, this year communications were established and memoranda of cooperation were signed with the Russian State University of Oil and Gas, the Perm National Polytechnic University of Russia, the Japan Corporation Mitsubishi Corporation and the Humanities and Technical University of Mangistau, Kazakhstan.

In the reporting year, the Institute of Oil and Gas also compiled 3D petro physical models of the productive horizons of the Sangachal-Duvan-Khara-Zire deposit.

The deputy director also stressed that in the 2017-2018 academic year, 1 person entered the magistracy of ING in the specialty "Geology".

T. Eybatov said that during the reporting period around Mingachevir reservoir and in the ridge of Bozdag and Garaj, a new species of vertebrate animals was discovered, as well as a lot of remains of the Southern elephant, the Red deer, the rhinoceros Merck and the horse.

The scientist also noted that this year the work in the direction of protection and reproduction of the Caspian seal has been continued.

In conclusion, were awarded prizes, a medal and a diploma of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center, corresponding member of ANAS Gurban Etirmishli was awarded a medal of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
