This year Institute of Geology and Geophysics will be 80. Institute for many years has contributed to the development of geological sciences, the solution of fundamental and applied problems in the study of mathematical models of geological structure, geodynamic conditions, mud volcanism and geological processes of the republic, as well as the creation and strengthening of mineral raw material base in Azerbaijan and the implementation of oil strategy.

During 80 years, the enterprise has gained some significant scientific achievements. The three-dimensional models include the evolution of the heat regime, the reconstruction of the oil and gas reservoirs in time and space, the collector characteristics of the fluids and their phases and etc.

The Institute cooperates with Japan, Germany, USA, China, Italy, Russia, France, Ukraine, Georgia and other countries. The results of scientific researches carried out during the period of activity of IGG were reflected in more than 6044 articles, 115 author's certificates, 260 books and monographs. 63 doctors of sciences, 188 PhDs have been trained in the Institute.

According to the decision of the Presidium of ANAS, the jubilee meeting dedicated to the 80th jubilee of this organization and the scientific-practical conference at the republican level are planned to be held this year.
