On April 18, by the joint support of ANAS Institute of Folklore and the International Mugham Center will be organized a new project "Dastans Evenings".

The project, which will be implemented at the International Mugham Center, includes samples of Ashig art and oral poetry, considered to be the most important spheres of oral folk literature.

Within the framework of the project, art lovers will be presented with a number of samples of Azerbaijani dastans performed by famous representatives of modern Ashig art.

The project, whose goal is to create a broad picture of the performance of dastans and its propaganda, also serves as a demonstration of the artistic, technical and melopoetic features of the wealth of contemporary Azerbaijani Ashig art.

It should be noted that, Ashig art is a unique event, possessing ancient historical roots of Azerbaijani folk art. He went through various stages in the history of development and united the values of non-material culture. In 2009, the Azerbaijani Ashig art entered the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
