Baku hosts conference on protection of human rights and freedoms

A research conference titled "Modern theoretical and practical approaches to the protection of human rights and freedoms in the 21st century" has been held in Baku. Co-organized by the Constitutional Court, Human Rights Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and the Black and Caspian Seas Region Countries Lawyers Association, the conference marked the 95th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

In her opening remarks, head of the ANAS Human Rights Institute, MP Aytan Mustafayeva highlighted the work done by great leader Heydar Aliyev to protect human rights in Azerbaijan.

A.Mustafazadeh noted that the great leader attached great importance to the protection of the rights of people and citizens, as the supreme goal of the Azerbaijani state. A. Mustafazadeh recalled the adoption of the Constitution on November 12, 1995 as a result of the initiative and efforts of the nationwide leader.

The scientist underlined that several amendments were made to the Constitution as a result of previous referendums and that the new articles attach great importance to human rights and freedoms. Mustafazadeh emphasized that the topics to be discussed at the conference will play an important role in identifying and solving problems, including determining the future strategy.

Professor Farhad Abdullayev, chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Law, Professor Farhad Abdullayev, Chairman of the Black Sea and Caspian Sea Lawyers Association, Doctor of Law, Professor Ilham Rahimov, Deputy Chairman of Milli Majlis Bahar Muradova and others addressed the event and emphasized the rights and freedoms provided by national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev, adoption of the Constitution, harmonization of laws and codes with international norms. In addition, it was noted that the year 2018 will mark the 100th anniversary of the People's Republic of Azerbaijan, Milli Mejlis, Armed Forces and other state bodies.

Chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev hailed the significant work that is underway to protect the human rights in the country.

Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, chair of the parliamentary committee on human rights Bahar Muradova emphasized the importance of the topic. She highlighted the activities of national leader Heydar Aliyev in ensuring human rights and freedoms.
