Nakhchivan Division of ANAS held a meeting was with the director of the Nasimi Institute of Linguistics, academician Mohsun Naghisoylu and Professor Adil Babayev.

At the beginning, director of the Institute of Art, Language and Literature of the Branch, the corresponding member of ANAS Abulfaz Guliyev, spoke about the ongoing reforms in our country in the direction of protecting the purity of the Azerbaijani language and its development. Speaking about the historical achievements of national leader Heydar Aliyev in determining the worthy place of the Azerbaijani language in the list of world languages, the linguist spoke about the national language policy pursued by the great leader, the status of our state language, targeted events in the field of promoting the Azerbaijani language and important state documents, signed up in this area.

“The language policy continues successfully in Nakhchivan and is under the direct control of the chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” said A.Guliyev, and noted the implementation of the State program in this direction in the autonomous republic and large-scale measures to preserve the purity of our language.

Then academician Mohsun Naghisoylu told about the main tasks facing the Azerbaijani language and linguistics. He noted the important work in declaring the Azerbaijani language as the state language, and the promotion of national values during the short-term rule of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

M.Naghisoylu noted that, the formation of the language policy in the republic, the improvement of the promotion of the native language as a state language and the formation of the national language as an indicator of solidarity of Azerbaijanis around the world is directly connected with the name of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. The language policy of an outstanding leader was an integral part of his state-building policy.

He brought to attention the speech in 1969 of the national leader Heydar Aliyev in the Azerbaijani language on the 50th anniversary of the Baku State language, noting the courage, valor, inner strength of G.Aliyev, and raising his question, having achieved the adoption of the Azerbaijani language as the state language 73 Article of our Constitution in 1978.

The scientist recalled the Decree of 18 June 2001 signed by Heydar Aliyev “On the improvement of the use of the state language” and 552, on the establishment of the Day of the Azerbaijani alphabet and the Azerbaijani language, dated August 9, 2001. According to this document, August 1 is celebrated annually in our country as the Day of the Azerbaijani alphabet and the Azerbaijani language.

Saying: “The language policy is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev” the scientist recalled the orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated January 12, 2004 “On the implementation of mass publications in the Azerbaijani language with Latin graphics” and on May 23, 2012 “On the State Program on the Use Azerbaijani language in the conditions of globalization in accordance with the requirements of the time and the development of linguistics in the country". He stressed that, one of the issues raised by President Ilham Aliyev at the 70th meeting of the National Academy of Sciences was related to the Azerbaijani language.

In his speech, Professor Adil Babayev addressed current issues in our language. The scientist recalled the words of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, "The language of the people is what helps each people to preserve their nationality, their spiritual values, and also to develop".
