On October 16, Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, academician Ibrahim Guliyev received a delegation headed by General Director of the Intellectual Property and Science Department of Clarivate Analytics (“Thomson Reuters”) for developing countries Vizhi Krishnan.
During the meeting, academician Ibrahim Guliyev thanking the company's leadership for opportunity and highly appreciated the cooperation with Clarivate Analytics.
Recalling, the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between ANAS and Clarivate Analytics, Vice President noted that, the number of users of the "Web of Science" database is gradually increasing.
Stressing that, the established relations are expanding every year, Academician Ibragim Guliyev proposed to include in the scientometric database “Web of Science” a number of monographs were published in the republic.
Further, Vizhi Krishnan noted that, Academy is the leading organization on publishing scientific articles in the republic: “60% of all scientific articles published in Azerbaijan by ANAS and it is about 700 indexed articles per year”.
Stressing that, Clarivate Analytics attaches great importance to cooperation with the Academy, Vizhi Krishnan added that, a special training program was developed for ANAS. Up to now, more than 30 trainings have taken place, in which more than 700 scientists took part.
Further, Director of the company for educational programs, Valentin Bogorov talked about events aimed at improving scientific journals, and said that a seminar was organized for the editors of almost 50 scientific journals. The guest also noted that, in the future it is planned to hold special trainings on writing scientific articles. In addition, Valentin Bogorov told about the Regional database of scientific journals in Russian, said that along with the technical and natural sciences, the humanities are also represented here, and Azerbaijani scientists can submit their articles to these journals.
Valentin Bogorov also noted that, an Arab scientific citation index is currently being developed, about 1000 scientific journals will be included in this database, along with Arab countries, scientific journals from neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan, will be able to enter here.
Then, representative of Clarivate Analytics on Azerbaijan and the expert on scientific and information resources Aygun Babazadeh noted that, in order to have an idea about the activity of individual scientific institutions of the Academy in this field, were collected and analyzed the corresponding statistical indicators.
Executive director of Clarivate Analytics for Russia and the CIS countries Oleg Utkin, head of the Office of International Relations of ANAS Presidium PhD in Biology Esmira Alirzayeva and head of the Office of Public Relations and Science Popularization Zulfugar Farzaliyev also attended the meeting.
