Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The closing and awarding ceremony of the winners of the ANAS 2nd Sports Festival was held.

The event was attended by the Vice-President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli, Chairman of the Free Trade Union, Doctor of Law, Professor Gabil Gurbanov, Director of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes, academician Vagif Abbasov, as well as chairmen of Free Trade Union of scientific institutions and organizations.

Opened the event, academician Isa Habibbeyli emphasized the high development of sports culture in our country in recent years.

Gabil Gurbanov noted that, 2nd Games were held among 20 scientific institutions in table tennis, chess, checkers and football from October 1-25. The fight was conducted for 21 medals (7 gold, 7 silver, 7 bronze). In the future it is planned to hold competitions in volleyball and basketball. The scientist noted that, republican and international judges participated in the competition.

Then, held ceremony of the winners.

According to the results of the Games in drafts, held among women, representative of the Institute of Physics Aytan Sherifli has taken the 1st place, the employee of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes (IPP) Samira Suleymanova has taken 2nd place and employee of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry Inja Maharramova has takenthe 3rd place.

At the competition for drafts among men, Ramis Hasanov (IPP) has taken the 1st place, Famin Salmanov (the Institute of Radiation Problems) has taken 2nd place and Rasim Heydarov (the Institute of Linguistics) has taken 3rd place.

In chess competitions, held among women Ziaret Pashayeva (IPP) has taken the 1st place, Sevinj Aliyeva (Institute of Linguistics) has taken 2nd place and Nargiz Ismailova (Institute of Information Technology) has taken 3rd place. Among men, the 1st place - Yusif Abdullaev (Institute of Physics), 2nd place - Kamran Aliyev (Institute of Geology and Geophysics), 3rd place - Sadig Hamidov (Institute of Physics).

At the table tennis completion among women, employees of the Institute of Physics Aytan Sherifli- 1st place, 2nd place - Sevda Garibova, representative of the Republican Seismic Survey Center Lala Piriyeva has taken 3rd place.

At the table tennis among men, Veisel Mammadov (Institute of Geology and Geophysics) has taken the 1st place, Tural Nagiyev (Institute of Physics) has taken 2nd place and Shakir Guliyev (Folklore Institute) -3rd place.

According to the results of football competitions, the team of the Republican Seismic Survey Center has taken the 1st place, 2nd place -Institute of Geology and Geophysics, 3rd place has taken the team of the Presidium of ANAS.
