Azerbaijan geologists attended the international conference in Turkey

With the support of UNESCO, an international scientific conference on “Environmental changes during the Fourth Stone Age from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea and their impact on people (2013–2018) and Ponto-Caspian stratigraphy and geohiology 2017-2020) was held in Antalya

The forum, our country represented by the staff of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, corresponding members of ANAS Dadash Huseynov, Kangarli Talat and Elmira Aliyeva. Scientists delivered papers on "The period of impact of mud volcanoes in the South Caspian and its impact on the environment" and "The prospect of the formation of a UNESCO geopark is a geo-ecological tool for the protection of Azerbaijan's geological heritage."

In addition, the Institute of Geology and Geophysics staff also informed participants about the “International Geological Sciences Program 610” (IGCP 610). It was noted that, the main goal of the project is to provide interregional and interdisciplinary information on various geological, archaeological and anthropological data, thereby studying the geo-history of Eurasia and its impact on the environment, as well as on people.

The program included field work in Western Georgia (2013), Azerbaijan (2014), Russia - the Northern Caspian (2015), Eastern Georgia - Kartli and Kakheti (2016) and Italy - Palermo (2017).

During the international conference, prospects for cooperation with a view to strengthening the scientific dialogue between the East and the West were also discussed.
