Scientific conference on "The current state and prospects of anthropology in Azerbaijan"

ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography held scientific session on "The current state and prospects of anthropology in Azerbaijan" dedicated to “Science Day” on March 27.

Director of the Institute, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Maisa Rahimova spoke about the significance of Science Day. She noted that, National Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences was established on March 27, 1945 and by the Order of AR President Ilham Aliyev dated April 9, 2018 this significant day was established by the Science Day.

Professor M.Rahimova congratulated the staff of the institute on “Science Day” and wished them success in their research activities.

Further, the report on “The current state and perspectives of anthropology in Azerbaijan” was delivered by the head of the Anthropology Center, Doctor of Anthropology, Professor Aliaga Mammadli. In his speech, the scientist acquainted the participants with the concept of "anthropology" in modern science. He said that, until now, anthropology was mainly of physical anthropology — the study of human remains found during archaeological excavations or the physical and biological parameters of modern man. Currently, this concept unites all aspects of a wider scale and components of human culture.

At the end of the event, young anthropologists of the center informed the participants of the session about their research.
