Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

ANAS Institute of Economy held a scientific conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding scientist, academician Asaf Nadirov.

In his opening speech, Vice-President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli noted that, Asaf Nadirov is the founder of the school of regional socio-economic development in Azerbaijan. The issues of regional development were the main directions of scientific activities of the outstanding Azerbaijani scientist Asaf Nadirov. The fundamentals of the concept of the socio-economic development of the regions of Azerbaijan have been developed, and research has retained its relevance to the present day.

Then, the report by the corresponding member of ANAS Shahbaz Muradov on “An outstanding scientist - economist and organizer of science” was listened. Corresponding Member of ANAS Ali Nuriyev, speaking at the conference, called Asaf Nadirov a scientist who sacrificed himself in the path of science.

Professor Rana Sultanova in her report on “The Founder of the Regional Economy in Azerbaijan” noted that, as a result of his research, it was revealed that the republic has ample opportunities for the effective development of silk production and the silk industry, as well as the population has extensive production experience and historical traditions.

In conclusion, Hidayat Nadirov, brother of academician Asaf Nadirov, thanked the organizers of the scientific conference and the leadership of ANAS on behalf of the scientist’s family.
