ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan History, which is the 1st and largest museum of our country will mark 100th universary on June 15, 2020.

From the 1st day of its creation, the museum, functioning as a cultural, educational and research institution, demonstrated of the material values at exhibitions, reflecting the history of the Azerbaijani people, as well as their collecting, preservation, research and publication.

The museum and the library, which consists mostly of rare books, contain over 300,000 items of material monuments.

Various expeditions, valuable archaeological, ethnographic, numismatic, documentary and material materials have been obtained as a result of strenuous searches confirm and reflect the centuries-old culture and history of our people.

In 2005-2007, by the initiative of AR President Ilham Aliyev at the museum a new exposition of the history of Azerbaijan was constructed, restored according to international standards since the early 1920's.

In addition, there are 8 halls at the museum and there is a house-museum of the owner of the museum building, a well-known oil magnate and patron of the arts, Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev. The exposition and materials in the memorial museum introduce local and foreign audiences to the history of the Azerbaijani people, rich in state traditions.

The Museum of History, which takes part in exhibitions and scientific forums around the world, continued its tradition in the years of independence, established ties with Russia, Turkey, USA, Germany, China, Norway, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Korea and other world countries and also participated in mobile exhibitions abroad.

Given the multifaceted activities of this influential cultural center and its contribution to Azerbaijani science, at the next meeting of ANAS Presidium, on April 3, an Action Plan was approved in connection with the 100th anniversary of the museum.
