The Shamakhi-Aghsu archaeological expedition headed by the head of the department of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Akif Guliyev, carried out archeological researches in early medieval settlement near Damirchi village of Shamakhi region.
During the archeological excavations conducted last year, castle walls built of river and rock stones were discovered. Archaeological excavations inside the tower include fragments of various shapes and sized pottery, iron arrowheads, sword fragments, bronze slippers, seals and rings, beads and casseroles.
This year's researches were carried out underground storage in the fortress wall. During the excavations carried out in the warehouse, 7 large Jugs were found. The height of the cubes is 1.65 meters. The Jugs are buried and the mouth is covered with flat stones. Almost all Jugs have been cracked by the weight of the soil. It has been established that two of these Jugs contain wine, while others store grain.
Discovered material and cultural samples were handed over to the Damirchi Archeological Museum. Pottery products are currently being restored by experts. Research on stamps will also clarify what kind of tribes they belong to.
