Vice President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli opened the event with the organizational support of ANAS Women's Council. He spoke about the rich scientific heritage of academician Zarifa Aliyeva, who made a great contribution to the science of ophthalmology and different periods of her activity. Zarifa Aliyeva, who opened the eyes of the world in Shahtakhti village of Sharur region of Nakhchivan, has passed a meaningful lifestyle
"The great achievements of academician Zarifa Aliyeva as a scientist are a separate stage in the history of Azerbaijan's medical science," said the vice-president of the ANAS, stressing that her life is a moral lesson for every Azerbaijani citizen. He noted that in 1949, a prominent scientist who began his career as a scientific researcher at the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Institute of Doctors Improvement devoted her life to ophthalmology and was elected as a full member of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan in 1983.
Academician Zarifa Aliyeva has also studied the problems of occupational pathology and other topical aspects of ophthalmology. She is an author of 200 scientific works, 14 monographs and 12 rationalization proposals, the speaker underlined.
Then, Academician Nargiz Akhundova, academician of the Department of Social Sciences, said that Zarifa Aliyeva has rendered great services in the development of medical staff, as well as training of medical personnel in the field of ophthalmology in Azerbaijan and made valuable contributions to the development of ophthalmology. The followers of her field of science today benefit from the heritage of the scientist.
Chairperson of the Women Council of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Professor Rena Mirzazade said in her speech that Zarifa Aliyeva's research on various fields of medicine, her achievements, and fundamental works are the brightest pages of Azerbaijan's medical science. Her scientific-pedagogical and public activity had a strong impact on the development of ophthalmology in Azerbaijan.
Ganira Pashayeva, MP, Doctor of Political Sciences, also shared her views on outstanding ophthalmologist-scientist Zarifa Aliyeva. She said that the character of Zarifa Aliyeva, one of the most beautiful women of the Azerbaijani intelligent woman, is concentrated on three great features such as responsibility, hard work and kindness.
The scientist's current scientific findings and achievements have once again demonstrated his vision and achievement of great targets, G.Pashayeva noted.
She also noted that Zarifa Aliyeva was awarded the Academician M.Averbakh Award by the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR for a number of original discoveries in the field of study and prevention of eye damage. She noted that Zarifa Aliyeva was the first woman to receive this award in the former USSR.
Academician Irada Huseynova, the vice-president of ANAS, stressed that Zarifa Aliyeva has created a scientific research laboratory for the first time in the world to study the professional pathology of the visual organism and has practically laid the foundation for a new direction in the field of science - professional ophthalmology. The scientist has been a member of ANAS for many years and represented the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences.
I. Huseynova said that well-known ophthalmologist Z. Aliyeva was also a humanist person who cared about his compatriots. Her life ideas and personality are an example for today's Azerbaijani youth. The positive qualities and high values of the Azerbaijani people are concentrated in the personality of Zarifa Aliyeva.
Later, the director of the Institute of Physiology named after A.Garayev of ANAS, doctor of biology Ulduz Hashimova said that ophthalmologist-scientist's life was mostly related to the Institute of Physiology. She talked about life and activity of the great scientist.
Zarifa Guliyeva, Chairperson of the Association for Modern Development and Family, chairman of Nashimi District Council of Elders, member of the YAP Women's Council, shared her memories about the outstanding scientist. She noted that Zarifa Aliyeva had grown up to the highest peaks in the difficult paths of science and lived a very responsible, exemplary life. Her bright memory will live forever in the hearts of our people.
In the end, a doctoral student of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi Panah Hajiyev sang the poem "Mother" devoted to ophthalmologist-scientist Zarifa Aliyeva.
