ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan History held the 3rd Republican Scientific Conference on "Research, propaganda, protection and restoration of national values protected in museums, archives and libraries".
The traditional event is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Museum of Independence of Azerbaijan.
Along with the museum staff, the event was attended by representatives of various research institutions of the republic.
At the event, Director of the museum, academician Naila Velikhanli spoke about the role of museums in the study and popularization of our history and culture. She spoke on the work done to protect, restore and demonstrate our national values in the museum.
Academician N.Velikhanli, speaking about the history of the creation of the Museum of Independence of Azerbaijan - the first museum of Azerbaijan, noted that on December 7, 1919 this museum, which existed only a few months was founded in the parliament building on the occasion of the first anniversary of the parliament of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. On April 28, 1920, after the establishment of Soviet power in Azerbaijan, the museum ceased to function.
“The museum had restructured its activities after 71 years - January 9, 1991,” said the director, adding that not a single museum exhibit was left from the museum operating in 1919. She said that, the museum has up to 20 thousand exhibits, although he began his activities with just 7,000 exhibits 28 years ago. The museum exposition highlights the path of independence of Azerbaijan.
Then, the teacher of the Department of Museum Affairs of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art, Elfira Malikova delivered a paper on “Innovations in Contemporary Museum Activities”.
About 30 scientific reports on history, ethnography, archeology, numismatics, museums, libraries and archives were delivered, discussions were held.
