Shaki “Silk Road” International Music Festival kicked off.

The festival, organized jointly by the Azerbaijani Composers' Union and the Sheki City Executive Authority, was attended by well-known music and theater collectives from Turkey, Russia, Hungary and Kazakhstan.

Speaking at the ceremony, head of Shaki City Executive Power Elkhan Usubov said that Sheki, one of the ancient cultural centers of the festival, will play an important role in expanding and introducing international tourism potential. Noting that Azerbaijan has always been paying close attention to the preservation of cultural heritage and promoting the rich culture of our people, Elkhan Usubov underlined the importance of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva's work in this area.

Art director of the festival, chairman of Azerbaijan Composers Union, correspondent member of ANAS, People's Artist, UNESCO Peace Artist Firangiz Alizadeh said that concert programs of brilliant examples of world musical art will be presented at the event.
