The presentation of the “Geography of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” was held by the Institute of Geology named after H.Aliyev of ANAS at the International Press Center.
Vice-President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli, director of the Institute of Geography, academician Ramiz Mammadov, director of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, correspondent member of ANAS Alovsat Guliyev, MP Fazil Mustafa, head of permanent representation of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Bakhtiyar Askerov and others attended the event.
The event was opened by academician Ramiz Mammadov and informed about the researches conducted at the institute. He noted that at present, the Institute of Geography holds a presentation on the landscape, geomorphology, climate, hydrology, the population of Azerbaijan.
Ramiz Mammadov spoke about the process of preparation of the presentation, saying that the authors have repeatedly been sent to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, collecting information on the changes and achievements in the region, and have taken a great responsibility to the research work.
Maharram Hasanov, deputy director on scientific work of the institute, doctor of geography, the docent said that the second volume of the publication was dedicated to the socio-economic geography of Nakhchivan, and that the landscape planning in the development of migration problems, minerals and new settlements in the book was explored with modern requirements.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli, in his speech, described the monograph as an encyclopedic publication and said that the authors have a global approach to the issue and have a great deal on historical information in the book. He praised the study of the ancient toponyms of Nakhchivan and said that the area was proven to be a region inhabited by Oghuz Turks.
Then deputy Fazil Mustafa, head of the permanent representation of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Bakhtiyar Askerov, correspondent member of ANAS Alovsat Guliyev, head of the chair of Baku State University, professor Tapdig Hasanov and others spoke about the political geography book devoted to Nakhchivan, , highlighting the strategic importance of the work and highlighted the importance of translating the works into English and Russian languages and sending them to the books of foreign countries.
Finally, academician Ramiz Mammadov expressed his gratitude to the participants of the event, saying that the geography of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will play a positive role in the development of the Azerbaijani economy and agriculture.
