The remains of the ancient mosque were discovered during the archaeological exploration conducted in the village of Galeybugurd in Shamakhi district by the Shamakhi-Aghsu archaeological expedition, headed by the Numismatics and Epigraphy Department of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, archeologist Akif Guliyev. Yasin Nuriyev, an employee of the State Service for Cultural Heritage Conservation, Development and Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as an observer and guide, participated in the researches.

The parts of the mosque's walls, dome and mosque have been uncovered until today. The mosque was built of rock and river stones. The monument was covered with tight arms and the monument was away from control for a long time. Historically, the monument was considered as a sacred sanctuary by local residents.

It should be noted that the archaeological expedition also marked the Muslim grave monuments of different stages of classical and medieval texts and stylistic drawings, which can be of interest to historians and epigraphists in the area, with artistic Arabic lines.
