Director of the Institute of History of ANAS, academician Yagub Mahmudov met with a professor at Shumen University named after Bishop Konstantin Preslavsky, Dr. History Biser Gorgiev.

In a meeting, B. Georgiev announced his intention to establish scientific ties with the Institute of History. In turn, Y. Mahmudov emphasized the historical proximity between our countries and peoples.

Later, a cooperation agreement was signed between the two structures. In accordance with the agreement, joint books and scientific conferences will be published. In addition, it was decided to create centers for the study of the history of Azerbaijani-Bulgarian relations at the Institute of History and Shumen University. These centers will study the history of relations between the two countries from ancient times to the present day, including the history of the early Middle Ages of Bulgaria and the place of the Bulgarian Turkic state in the Turkic world.

Finally, the guest was presented the Institute’s books in Russian: “Azerbaijan: A Brief History of Statehood”, “The Real History and Fiction of “Great Armenia”, “Iravan Khanate: Russian Occupation and the Relocation of Armenians to Northern Azerbaijan”, “The Turkic Genocide” Muslim population of Azerbaijan 1918-1920” and “The right of the Azerbaijani people to inherit lands in and around Yerevan should be restored.”
